Our Lady’s College School Extension
DFCE has been commissioned by the Board of Management of Our Lady’s College via The Department of Education and Skills (DoES) in this Additional Accommodation Scheme project. DFCE acted as part of a design team which included Healy Partners Architects, McCullagh Lupton Quinn QS, RPS and Tobin Engineers.
DFCE provide Civil and Structural Engineering Services for the 969m2 extension of the School to include A Science Laboratory, Commerce Room, Technology Room, Universal Access WC, Plant room, etc.
The school is located within the curtilage of several protected structures, this protected structure status is under part IV of the Planning and Development Act 2000. Due to this, and as a part of the design, DFCE have adhered to the DoEHLG Principles of Conservation.
The school’s location which is directly parallel to the Eglington Canal which required DFCE to Design and Commission Geotechnical Investigations and Flood Risk Assessments. DFCE also coordinated a traffic management plan to enable the school to operate within the Galway County Development Plan.
